Nursing Services

To ensure positive health outcomes for individuals at Terrebonne Arc, our nursing staff provides daily medication administration and ongoing health assessments. The nurses evaluate the need for further medical intervention or treatment for any illnesses or injuries that occur on campus. Additionally, first aid is administered as needed for minor injuries in the work environment.

The nursing staff also assists clients with doctor-patient communication, provides relevant health histories, ensures timely screenings, and follows medical treatment plans. They work diligently to ensure that individuals receive necessary medical, psychiatric, vision, dental, and podiatry care.

In addition to addressing client health concerns, the nursing staff at Terrebonne ARC is certified by the American Red Cross to teach Basic CPR and first aid to employees during their orientation. They provide education on recognizing signs and symptoms of illness or injury, caring for clients with seizures, practicing universal precautions and infection control, and using proper lifting techniques.

Residential Health Services
The health needs of individuals in the residential programs are monitored by TARC’s nursing staff. Medications in Community Homes, Supported Independent Living, Community Living Supports, and Center-Based Respite are administered by trained and certified staff. When possible, individuals are encouraged to self-administer medications under supervision. A nurse is available 24 hours a day for consultation with staff regarding the medical needs of individuals in all residential programs.
