CREATING OPPORTUNITIES
LA MAISON D’ART department provides a therapeutic
means of learning to express ones creativity through art. Exposure
to art in its many forms inspires these adults to create masterpieces
beyond anyone's preconceived notions. The inspiration is contagious
and has truly touched all that have come into contact with these
creations. All products made in this department are wholesaled and/or
retailed within and outside of TARC's surrounding community. The
quality and uniqueness of the product keeps the customers coming
back for more and in turn allows TARC to discover, employ and refine
more artisans in the community.
TARC ARTISTS
PAULA LAPEYROUSE, FOLK ARTIST
TARC Folk Artist Paula Lapeyrouse and her artwork are
familiar sights at TARC. Paula is an outstanding folk artist and a
member of LA MAISON D'ART department. Paula’s love for
her work is evident in the volume of work she produces and the joy
she gets from sharing it with others. Besides being an artist, Paula
enjoys dining out, cooking, and announcing the daily menu at TARC.
Clearly, Paula and her artwork are inspiring others and opening eyes
throughout the community and beyond.
Paula’s artwork is displayed at the TARC Restaurant, Coffee Zone Downtown,
and Big Al’s 2 in Houma, Louisiana. In addition, Paula exhibits her artwork
twice a year, along with other TARC artists, at Art after Dark in the Coffee
Zone Downtown.
PAULA AND THE WHITE HOUSE
Making TARC history and a memorable trip, Paula was
chosen to paint an ornament to represent Congressman Charlie Melancon’s
district on The White House annual Christmas tree. Paula and two TARC
staff members visited Washington D.C. in early December to view her
ornament during a reception at The White House. Paula enjoyed her
trip by also visiting the nation’s monuments and a museum. At
the end of her trip, she visited Charlie Melancon’s office and
staff. They were very excited to meet her, and Paula is looking forward
to painting a special painting for the Congressmen as a “thank
you.” Melancon’s office also set Paula and her guests
up with a Capitol tour. Overall, the trip was a memorable experience, and Paula
dreams of going back again.

avid photographer at family events as well as at Special Olympics.
In her spare time, Teri likes to make puzzles, play on the computer,
and cook.
