SUMMARY:  This work involves the teaching, training, guiding, and supervision of adult clients in and wherever else designated, all aspects of the production of salsa and pepper jelly made in the TARC Houma Grown Department, and responsibility for working in all areas assigned which includes but is not limited to floating between the Houma Grown food service area, Houma Grown farming areas, and the Art Day Habilitation area.  Work is performed within the established rules and regulations set forth by Federal, State and Local governmental bodies as well as TARC; and is reviewed through periodic conferences with the department Director and Adult Service Manager.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following; other duties may be assigned.

  • DIRECT SUPPORT WORKER
    • Provide supervision, training and direct care as requested and/or needed to individuals assigned. This may include working with a client, one-on-one, assisting with client’s job and responsibilities and perform any duty necessary to ensure quality and client success.
    • Organize, formulate and implement job training to address daily living, social interactions, communications, health/hygiene, safety, team work, vocational skills and provide hands-on training to individuals.
    • Conducts, develops and participates in assessment procedures for determining individual needs.
    • Provides input to QDDP for individual service plans (ISP) for clients within the program. Must attend ISP meetings as required by regulations.
    • Participate in the staffing of clients after the evaluation has been completed, as necessary.
    • Maintain a realistic work environment with special emphasis on proper safety procedures and work site employer’s policies in the completion of client’s duties.
    • Complete daily charting, weekly and monthly reports, work orders, requisitions and time sheets.
    • Evaluate instructional plan and client progress efficiently, accurately, and within appropriate timelines.
    • Obtain and use the proper personal protective equipment/clothing (PPE) for clients according to the job demands.
    • Ensure Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) of products used in the completion of job site demands are acquired and that sheets are read and understood by self and clients.
    • Coordinate and participate in outings in the community to address clients’ needs as assigned.
    • Conduct inventory inspections of quality and quantity of equipment and products.
    • Complete work orders along with immediate notification to supervisors concerning equipment that does not work or works improperly.
    • Assists in the development and participates in productivity (time) study procedures for determining commensurate wages as per Department of Labor regulations within appropriate timelines.
    • Provide personal care as per regulations for individuals served. Give daily work instruction and / or assignments to individuals within the designated program.
    • Assist in the pricing, scheduling of delivery or distribution of services and products, as needed.
    • Order all materials and supplies following the purchasing policies to fulfill program needs.
    • Be able to maintain effective working relationships and contribute to building a positive team spirit.
    • Follow all TARC’s policies and procedures. Perform any other job duties as assigned.
  • HOUMA GROWN FOOD TECH
    • Follow the Food and Drug Administration guidelines for manufacturing foods for wholesale purchase.
    • Stock using proper storage procedures, like items together, labels facing front, dating when necessary.
    • Keep area clean and sanitize work surfaces; mops floors according to procedures; takes out trash as necessary. Performs any other cleaning duties as assigned.
    • Follow food service and/or production sheets demonstrating accuracy in weighing, measuring, and portioning food.
    • Wears clean uniforms and hair net.
    • Consults production sheets for thawing and advanced preparation when possible; completes and posts production sheets daily.
    • Ability to successfully operate all cooking equipment; cleans equipment, pots and pans after use when necessary. Initiates repairs as needed.
    • Prepares high quality products according to standardized recipes in the correct amount in a cost conscience manner for consumers.
    • Adhere to all TARC’s policies and procedures, including food and fire safety standards.
    • Takes temperatures of hot foods and records such on production sheets.
    • Set-up food area on daily basis with appropriate foods and supplies.
    • Assumes other departmental duties, such as washing dishes and/or assisting with special functions as requested by manager.
    • Receives deliveries of food items with purchase orders.
    • Participates in trainings and/or meeting as needed.
    • Organize, formulate and implement production of items needed to meet the wholesale/retail needs of salsa and pepper jelly production.
    • Maintain equipment, materials and supplies needed for production.
    • Maintain proper procedures for manufacturing products using proper Department of Health food safety standards.
    • Ability to work varied hours to accommodate the manufacturing and distribution of products.
    • Have the ability to complete and maintain records and account for products manufactured and delivered.
    • Must be able to learn and instruct clients on the proper use of equipment, keeping safety a priority
    • Must be available during emergency situations, such as hurricanes to assist where needed.
    • Display appropriate customer service by responding to request for service and assistance in a timely manner.
  • FLOATER
    • Keep management informed about progress of plant growing activities, planting and picking schedules.
    • Obtains authorization for changes in fertilizer, herbicide, and pesticide application techniques and formulas.
    • Observes plants and flowers in greenhouses, pots, raised beds, and fields to ascertain condition such as leaf texture and bloom size.
    • Assist with changes in temperature levels, chemical use, and cultivation procedures to ensure conformance with quality control standards.
    • Drives and operates machinery to handle materials and supplies, as well as, to cultivate the land.
    • Performs variety of duties involving the cultivation and care of plants and crops.
    • Must be able to learn and instruct clients on proper use of equipment and proper care of plants.
    • Must be able to learn and instruct clients on different types of art projects and crafts.
    • Ability to successfully operate all equipment and machinery used during the production of art products.
