CDL Bus Driver

At TARC, our Transportation Bus Driver team helps lead our nationally recognized agency by providing a critical service to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Without our transportation bus drivers, the individuals we serve would have difficulty in finding transportation to work, day activities, and excelling in their daily lives. Our bus drivers provide much needed support for our local parents and families that rely on transportation. Our bus drivers report high job satisfaction and long-term success at TARC. As a Bus Driver for TARC, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintains a current 4 year CDL license.
  • Maintains a current 2 year DOTD physical.
  • Assist loading and unloading of passengers on the bus.
  • Load non-ambulatory passengers and strap wheelchairs to the floor using the 4 pt. tie down system.
  • Can lift 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to do the following actions: bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, grabbing, twisting, and crawling.
  • Drives and participates in client field trips.
  • Preforms monthly vehicle inspections.
  • Complies with local and state traffic regulations.
  • Familiar with Terrebonne Parish roads
  • Reports delays or accidents.
  • Reports repairs needed on the vehicle.
  • Inspects bus as per CDL requirements.
  • Complete necessary reports as per TARC policy, including behavior, accident, incident and any other situations.
  • Follow all TARC policies and procedures along with Federal, State, Local laws and Department of Transportation.
  • Must attend all DSW training as well as all other required training.
  • Must be able to drive defensively.
  • Reports to work as scheduled and on time.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid C.D.L. and Physical

40 hours school bus training.
