ARC of Louisiana Awards

TARC received numerous ARC of Louisiana awards in 2010.  TARC Executive Director, Mary Lynn Bisland and various staff attended the ARC of Louisiana Convention in Shreveport, LA from October 7-9.  On October 8, TARC accepted several awards on behalf of local businesses and staff that support TARC throughout the year.  TARC won the majority of these highly sought after state awards by all Louisiana ARCs.  We are grateful for the community support to assist in TARC’s coveted success.

News Media Award-- Point of Vue Magazine, POV

This local magazine’s support for TARC is outstanding.  As we continue to recognize the talents of the individuals we serve, it is invaluable to have those in the media take notice, explore, support and appreciate these individuals as contributing members of society.  This past year, a few positive articles, product placement, and event awareness have been published in POV to highlight TARC.

Recreation Award-- TARC's Let's Get Together Club

This award honors an individual, a chapter, or a program that provides recreational opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. For the past 3 years, TARC’s Let’s Get Together Club has been creating recreational activities for TARC and other local ARCs for all people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities in Terrebonne Parish.  It is the first social club in TARC history.  With over 100 members, the “Let’s Get Together” club rapidly became a source for educational gatherings, social outings, and new opportunities for leadership and social skills.  The club organizes one event every other month.
